Custom extra large portrait

If you thought my last portrait was detailed…this one takes the cake. This portrait turned me into a hermit crab for a few days! I stayed mostly in my room finishing this portrait up and rarely stepped out (except to eat..like this bunny).

This is a custom extra large portrait for Philip and his partner Mark. Philip wanted a unique gift for their coming anniversary so he decided to have a custom portrait done in Little Mo style!

Philip and Mark loves travelling and of all the photos that he sent to me, I loved this boat one the best. It was taken on their adventure trips in Switzerland. I hope that my drawing captures their love for exciting adventures and the outdoor! I also added in a few of Little Mo’s friends for a bit of humour!

I’ve known Philip since college days and he’s one of my dearest friend who has always been supportive of my art! Thanks so much for having me draw you a custom portrait! I can’t wait to see this framed up! Happy anniversary! xoxo

Unwrapped Spring 2010

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Hello, we’re back from Unwrapped.

unwrapped_2010blog3

It was nice to be outdoors. We had a lovely Spring weather and a nice view of the city from our stall.

I wasn’t sure which coloured cloth to use for my tablecloth and in the end decided to go with green. After all it’s Spring time now!

As you can see, I’ve also had my hair cut shorter. I went to a place near where I live and requested for a pixie cut, just like what I asked for my last hair cut. It’s interesting how every stylist has their own version of a pixie cut! I don’t think I’ve ever had my hair cut above my ears before and I can’t help laughing at how short it is. But in a way, it’s nice to have a change.

Custom Portrait with Kelly

ellekelly

Same portrait but with Elle’s housemate, Kelly added in!

Elle thought it would be nice to surprise Kelly with her own portrait too. Kelly is bubbly and fun loving and she loves pushing Aston on her skateboard. I can imagine how much fun he has riding it!

I can’t wait to send these prints over to the girls!

I have a few more portraits to work throughout this month and can take in some orders from new customers. Contact me if you’d like a custom portrait drawn or just purchase them directly here.

Custom portrait for Elle

Here’s a new custom portrait that I’ve just completed for Elle and her son, Aston!

I thought I’d show you a bit of my creative process. This is a rough outline that I sketched and sent to Elle. It’s quite basic and it gives my customers an idea of the layout and setting. I remind my customers that the finished artwork is usually more detailed and colourful. Sometimes I get nervous wondering if they are going to comment about the lack of details or the fact that I haven’t drawn their eyeballs yet! But to my relief, my customers are usually very enthused about the whole process and I’m always amazed at how much faith they have in me! Oh the pressure!

Now to the colouring part, which you all know is my favourite! It’s where I add in extra details which makes it fun and creative, and also very tedious. Colouring the flower prints on Elle’s dress made me see coloured spots even after I walked away from the computer!

I think what makes a good custom portrait are the little details that I add into the picture to make it uniquely theirs. Like that little cowlick on their hair, a favourite dress or anything that makes them squeal “Oh this is soooo us!” To me, that is the BEST surprise I can give to my customers :D

Custom portrait for Casey

casey_colour

Casey wanted a custom portrait of her daughter, Alexia.

Like most girls, Alexia loves dancing and ballet. Her favourite colours are pink and purple. This is my version of Alexia, sitting on a field of violets. Do you like it?

I’m off to the printers now to print her out and will share photos in my next post:)

Custom illustration for Katie

katie

This is my latest portrait illustration of Katie’s little boys, Matthew and Oliver who are 4 and 2. This portrait will be a Christmas gift for the boys grandparents and I’m so excited for them!

katie2

Katie sent me some photos of the boys and their countryside backyard. In one of the photos there is a soccer net that her father proudly built for the boys. There are also gum trees in the background and sometimes during the day, dairy cows roam about. After reading Katie’s story, I knew this portrait wouldn’t be complete without the soccer net and dairy cow.

I think the best part about my job, is that I get to recreate their world in my style:)

If you would like your own custom portrait as a Christmas gift, please get in touch with me! Or purchase them here.
