Sticky business

Today is sticker making day!

littlemo_stickers3

I’ve been making and cutting up Little Mo book stickers for wholesale orders. It was actually quite relaxing! I sat at my desk in the morning, put on some music and started cutting all these stickers out. About a hundred of them.

Then I put the stickers into their little packets. I also sketched a bit on my sketchbook. There’s a froggie in it, but I’m not sure what to do with him. So I shall ponder more on this!

Oh yeah, I’d recommend Earlimart for ‘drawing and cutting up’ background music! I’ve been playing them all week! What’s currently on your playlist?

Grr grr

Had the sweetest mail today.

beccybear1

My little Beccy Bear gocco print from BontonsKids. I like how she’s waving her fist at the butterfly going ‘Grr Grr!’

I’ve put her up on my inspiration board so that she can also ‘grr grr’ at me to take out my Gocco machine one of these days.

Awhile back I posted some behind the scenes of a music video that we worked on for Perth Band, Blac Blocs.

Tonight is the launch of the animated video!

We’ve counted, and this stop-motion animation is made with 10,100 still images! That’s alot of images to put together to create this visual feast! I really hope to see you there tonight!

Was out buying supplies…and look what I found. Every desk needs post-its right? This apple one is too cute to resist.

Hello Tristan,

Welcome to our big world! You look so much like your father and funnily enough you sleep just like me. I think your Bobishi booties fit you well. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms and teach you how to draw cute animals! I think we will have lots of fun together.

Love always,
Your aunty Helena

Bright and happy

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

We found a discarded chair, that nobody wanted. It just needed a bit of scrubbing and some prettying up.

cutecovers

I love these print covers, I like to buy prints that makes me happy. These cute designs are from Mint Design and Thirty Five Flowers.

My husband thinks pillow covers are trivial things but when he spots a new cover in our house, he smiles. He says it’s my style and he likes it. So I think I am slowly convincing him that cute covers are a good thing.

I may give this chair a coat of paint. I’ll grab a small can from Bunnings. Pink or blue?

Yo La Tengo

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

Last night, Rich surprised me with tickets to Yo La Tengo. Yo La Tengo is one of my favourite bands ever, along with Wilco and Mogwai.

When Rich and I first started dating, he made me a mix cd and one of the tracks was a Yo La Tengo song. It was called Little Eyes. He said the song reminded him of me. You can listen to it here, I think the title says it all.

Over the years, we’ve listened to this band together, danced along to it and even played Yo La Tengo at our wedding. Last night was a sweet reminder of the good times we’ve shared while listening to their music. This is me with the vocalist, Ira Kaplan. Good stuff.

Lunar new year part 2

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

And then my brother-in-law, Aaron arrived for dinner!
For starters, we tossed Yee Sang.

Yee Sang is like a cold salad dish. The dish is surrounded by colourful shredded vegetables like ginger, papaya, turnip, carrots plum sauce, sesame seed and five spice powder. We usually have this dish during the Lunar new year. Everybody will gather around the table and we will all toss and mix the dish together with our chopsticks. While tossing, we’d wish good things for everyone, in hope that all our wishes will come true:)

steamboat

Our main meal for the night was steamboat. We got this steamboat from my parents as one of our wedding gifts. It’s like a hot pot, and we put the pot filled with soup stock in the middle of the table and add in meat slices and vegetables. If you come and visit me, I’d most likely cook steamboat because I love the idea of sharing a meal from one big pot.
