Hello! Mr Bear

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

bear_pad1

My workspace just got a little more cuter with my new bear pad warmer, a winter gift from my husband. It’s a nifty USB gadget that heats up your “mouse hand”.

The gadget really works, much to my amusement! Though I would have preferred Mr Bear to be even hotter (he’s only slightly warm). But for cuteness factor, I think he has surpassed my expectations! So bonus points for Mr Bear!

Mr Rain is staying with us for a couple of days…

rainy_mo

Since his arrival, we’ve been enjoying hot drinks together over a good book.

Mr Rain is going to help out in the garden and then go swimming in the lake. If you see him around, don’t forget to give him a big smile! xoxo

Perth Upmarket pt. 2

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

The crowd at Perth Upmarket was huge!

It was hard to stop and take pictures without stepping on somebody’s toes. This is the only picture I took of the upstairs hall (where my booth was at). There were still other vendor stalls downstairs, at the foyer, out at the lawn and in another hall.

I was delighted to find Liv and Lauren as my stall neighbours. Liv from Olive Farm sells beautiful bridal accessories (you can even wear them to non wedding events). They are truly exquisite and I love the colours of her stall. I also think it’s adorable that her husband is wearing one of her creations!

This is Lauren from Osier who is posing by her succulent table. Isn’t it gorgeous? Her jewellery pieces have a bit of vintage quirkiness to them. I’m a big fan of her work.

This is my cute tumbler pot from Eucalyptus Homewares. I’ve been admiring Melanie’s work for ages and decided to save up to get one of her creations. As you know, I’ve been having the green fingers lately and couldn’t resist these handmade herb markers and planter pot to add to my growing collection.

All in all quite a fun day! You can see more pictures of the winter Perth Upmarket on my Facebook page.

Art exchange

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

I’m slowly replying to all my pen-pals. Almost there!

fashion2

Again I’ve been spoiled with more snail mails this week. Some friends and I took part in an art exchange. Each person mails off a handmade art and receives a surprise package in return. I’ve received two packages so far and they’re all lovely!

Del from Delicious Designz made me a flower brooch in orange and blue wool! I love it so much! I was touched that she chose my wedding colours and it made me all giddy again looking at the fun colours. This brooch makes me think of orange poppies!

Deb from Two Cheeky Monkeys made me some hair pins. I must admit, I’m a bit obsessed with hair pins and I wear them a lot! The ones that Deb sent me are my favourite kind, they look like little vintage charms and they come in pastel colours. They also match my Matryoshka Doll bag that I bought in Japan! Hehe.

Thanks girls! I hope you’ve been receiving lots of cool art yourselves! xoxo

More veggies

Monday, June 21st, 2010

I came back home today with a box of leafy greens to add to my vegetable garden.

A packet of roma tomato seeds, some red rubin basil, greek oregano and bok choi.

I love the little spikes on the oregano leaves.

It’s always nice to have a sizzling BBQ on a winter night.

We ordered a set of bulgogi (strips of beef marinated in soy sauce mixture) and spicy dak bulgogi (chicken pieces marinated in hot chili sauce mixture).

We ordered some Korean beer to accompany our meal. I’m not a beer connoisseur but I have found that my favourite beers are mostly malty, dry and strong. So if we have similar taste, I’d recommend that you try the Korean OB lager, the next time you’re out having a Korean meal.

Cloudy and a chance of pancakes

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

eggless_pancakes

I woke up early this morning, craving pancakes…only to realise that I didn’t have any eggs in the pantry. So I asked myself, could I make pancakes without eggs? I checked online for recipes…and apparently I can!

This is my version of fluffy pancakes without eggs. I’m sure there are many variations out there, but this is all I had to work with. It still tasted good!

1 cup wholemeal flour (you can also use all-purpose flour)
1 teaspoon brown sugar
2 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoon butter

- Combine dry ingredients and mix slightly. Add milk, oil, water and combine. Do not overmix.
- Heat your butter and pour melted butter into pancake batter and stir.
- Spoon mixture onto a hot greased pan. Cook until golden brown.

I noticed that the pancakes tasted savoury which is nice. But if you prefer your pancakes sweet, you can add more sugar into the batter or eat your pancakes with extra dollop of honey, fruits and ice-cream. Other optional ingredients you can include inside your batter: vanilla extract and cinnamon powder.

An old friend flew in and we’re having dinner at our place.

We’ll be using the dinner plates that Niina drew for our wedding present. I’m starting to think that she’s like superwoman. She can sew + draw + make just about anything. It scares me a little.

paper_scorer1

My husband’s birthday gift to me arrived this morning by truck.

And…this heavy duty paper scorer is HUGE! I can’t lift it off my kitchen floor and I’m almost too afraid to open it!

I will post some pictures soon, when I get the machine to work:)
