Being silly

September 12th, 2011

If you’re friends with me on facebook..I appologise that you have to read this post twice! I get excited over silly things..like finding fake grass scraps in a skip!

I’m sure by tomorrow (and after a good night sleep) I will probably read this post back and think, “what was I thinking?”

triangle_lawn

So yes, we picked up a patch of fake grass, they were offcuts from somebody’s lawn. We didn’t have much of a choice with the shapes so we picked a triangle shape. And now, we have our very own triangle lawn balcony. Possibly the first of its kind (I think). Tee hee hee!

Even Little Mo is pretty happy about it.

Girl with headbands

September 9th, 2011

I’ve added two new brooches in my shop: Tiger Mo glass brooch and Bear Mo glass brooch.

I like wearing headbands, mostly it’s to keep my curly hair in order. I’m also trying to grow my hair out which can be very tedious and frustrating. Some days I just want to cover my whole head with a sack or take down all the mirrors in my house.

Little Mo on the other hand, has nice hair everyday and looks good in her animal headbands. I am jealous…

Spring at home

home2

This is our home. We live in a small apartment, most likely built in the 70s. It lacks any modernity..even the faucets and the stove dates back to its original years. Everything still works…with a little tinkering and tightening from time to time! We’ve sort of grown to love all the quirks and charm that comes with this place.

My style is a mix match of kitsch, country and Jeu De Paumes inspired. I love wood and fabric on white walls, I think they go well together. My favourite styling props are linen, pillow covers, plants and pottery. So whenever I travel, I look out for these things to buy and bring back home.

What about you? Whats your favourite style when it comes to styling your home or favourite room?

Next month we’ll begin decorating our walls with paintings. That also includes hanging my cuckoo clock from Germany, I’ll share more pictures then:) And if anybody is wondering about those kitty figurines, they are actually salt and pepper shakers that Richard bought for me in Wales. The kitties are dressed in the traditional Welsh costume :D

Stay For Tea

September 3rd, 2011

Painted with Acrylic and pencil on Arches watercolour paper.

chicken_teapot1

chicken_teapot2

I painted this piece while drinking a tea blend called Marco Polo and listening to Collapse Under The Empire.

This painting is of course inspired by my love for tea drinking. The idea came about from a random sketching session with Niina during our last shop shift. She was the one who suggested I draw a chicken teapot..which sounded crazy at first, but the idea grew on me and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So chicken + tea = cute chicken teapot!

Before I met my Welsh husband, I was hardly crazy about tea. Once we started dating, I realised how much tea he consumed. I also learned quickly that he MUST have his morning ritual of tea + milk + toast or I would suffer the wrath of a grumpy bear! In fact, his whole family drinks tea around the clock, which is probably a very British thing.

tea_collection

Over the years we have sampled and bought various tea. One of our favourite things to do is to brew a pot of tea after dinner and sit down and unwind. I usually take mine black, without any sugar or milk.

casablanca_tea

So to all the tea lovers out there including Niina, this piece is for you. Here’s to lots of happy tea drinking!

Stay For Tea is available to purchase in my shop. Pop it in a 5×7 frame and enjoy your original cuppa:)

Hide and Seek Bunnies in Spring

August 28th, 2011

A new painting from me. Painted with acrylic and pencil on Arches watercolour paper
Bunnies-in-spring3

Well that’s two paintings this weekend! Can you tell how much fun I’m having with my new medium?

This is a sweet piece, shy baby bunnies peeking out from a spring bush. I like the softness to it and it’s quite different from my usual digital colouring style. I think once in awhile, it’s nice to try something different!

Bunnies-in-spring2

Hide and Seek Bunnies is available to purchase in my shop. I eagerly await for my first customer!
